The Legacy

My heroes while growing up were all wood workers. My father, my grandfather and all my uncles were all builders and cabinet makers. I knew from the age of about six that this is what I wanted to be, the path I would follow.

When I bought my first house, I remodeled it and began to furnish it. I found old pieces of superior quality furniture that could be refinished. I started buying and restoring distressed pieces and filling my house with them. Shaker, Craftsman, Scandinavian and Asian style pieces are among my favorites.

With the machines and tools I had, I opened my first shop in 1977 with a commitment to do every job the best I could. This is the only way I have made my living for the past 35 years. I have produced many styles and fashioned many of my own designs. It has not only afforded me my living and an exciting career, but also an opportunity to work on many masterpieces, from Frank Lloyd Wright to the renowned Shakers, Sam Maloof, the Green & Green, Gustav Stickley and many other furniture icons. I have established thousands of relationships and the respect of my peers. I have taught many classes on furniture restoration, and I was a feature writer for a national trade magazine on restoring antique furniture.

After all these years, my passion for my work has never waned. I go to bed every night and can’t wait to wake up and go to work the next day. I never plan on quitting. My father drove his last nail when he was 78 years old. My goal is to finally outdo him.
